CuCo gives you cultural orientation for your start in Germany. Experience cultural differences in a playful way and learn to avoid misunderstandings.
With a “culture quiz”, you can test and develop your knowledge of general manners in Germany. CuCo will be available as a first test version in the Google Play Store and as a web app from 2025!
Understand differences, discover similarities
CuCo is an app that allows you to easily experience and better understand cultural differences in communication. You will learn in a playful way how irritations can arise due to different cultural backgrounds.
Sometimes it’s the little things, like a glance, a smile, the way we greet someone, how we offer drinks or simply look at someone, that make the difference.
The app is primarily aimed at people who are new to Germany and helps you prepare for life in Germany. But even if you have been living in Germany for a long time or were born here, CuCo offers you insights into cultural differences and manners. CuCo is for everyone who enjoys living in a diverse society and wants to develop more cultural understanding. That’s why the explanations go beyond one-dimensional contrasts such as Arabic-German and include other cultures.
Understanding each other takes more than words
Learning German takes time and patience – but mutual understanding begins even before a common language is spoken. That’s why the first test version of CuCo is available in German, English and Arabic, and we are working on adding more languages. In this way, we want to ensure that as many people as possible have access to important information and cultural understanding right from the start.
That’s why the app is also available in the heritage language. After all, it takes a long time to explain cultural differences in integration or language courses in german.
Start your cultural adventure with CuCo!
CuCo will go online in 2025 for its first test phase! This version has less content and serves as a test version to gather feedback and further develop the app together with you.
In the future the app will be available in the Google Play Store and can be used as a web app on Apple devices and in all common browsers. Take the opportunity to be one of the first to try CuCo and help us improve it – we look forward to your feedback!
